HOJE É O DIA…
Today is the day: Our first show at the London Coliseum! Everything we’ve done over the last few weeks has lead up to this moment.Hoje é o dia: Nosso primeiro show no Coliseum de Londres! Tudo que nós temos feito nos últimos dias nos direcionou para este momento.
We visited the venue back in may and got the grand tour by the technical manager Dewi who has been working in this theatre for more than 30 years. Of course he had a lot of stories to tell. He showed us the seats where the phantoms usually sit and watch the shows… Anyway, we’re very excited to perform in this iconic theatre and home of the English National Opera.
Nós visitamos este local em maio passado e fizemos um grande tour guiado pelo gerente técnico Dewi que tem trabalhado neste teatro por mais de 30 anos. Naturalmente ele tinha uma porção de estórias para contar. Ele nos mostrou os assentos onde os fantasmas usualmente sentam e assistem aos shows… De qualquer forma, nós estamos muito entusiasmados para a apresentação neste ícone de teatro e a casa da Òpera Nacional Britânica .
We have been pretty much away from the public eye after we’d finished the 2009 world tour and the Christmas shows. We have spent a lot of that time since in the studio, recording and refining our upcoming new album, to which the coliseum shows are a kind of a launch event.
Nós estivemos bem afastados dos olhos do público depois de termos terminado a turnê mundial de 2009 e os Concertos de Natal . Nós gastamos uma porção deste tempo em estúdio, gravando e refinando nosso próximo e novo álbum, o qual os shows no Coliseum serão como um evento de lançamento.
The first time we performed a song from this new repertoire was at the Royal Albert Hall, where we got the award for “Artist of the Decade” at the Classic Brits. It was then and there where we worked for the first time with Brian Burke, an artistic director from Vegas, who is best known for the 5 year running Celine Dion show “A New Day”, and the water spectacle “Le Reve”, a show he is currently still working on at the Wynn in Vegas. Brian created the visuals for our Brits performance, and we were all so thrilled with the result that we commissioned him to stage a full show for us: “Il Divo Live at The London Coliseum”.
A primeira vez que nós apresentamos uma canção deste novo repertório foi no Royal Albert Hall, onde nós recebemos o prêmio de “Artistas da Década” no Classic Brits. Foi então que tivemos a chance de trabalhar pela primeira vez com Brian Burke, um diretor artístico de Las Vegas, que é mais conhecido pelos cinco anos de direção do show de Celine Dion ” A new Day “, e o espetáculo das águas “Le Reve”, um show no qual ele ainda está trabalhando no Wynn em Las Vegas. Brian criou os visuais para nossa apresentação no Brits, e nós ficamos tão impressionados com o resultado que nós o encarregamos de encenar um show inteiro para nós: ” Il Divo no Coliseum de Londres”.
After several conference calls and video chats from all over the world to discuss ideas we finally met again just about two weeks ago. He and his team, stage manager Justin Mabardi and choreographer Ray Leaper, presented us with “The Bible” a 60 page workbook in which every detail of the show was meticulously planned out and documented.
Depois de muitas conversas por audio e video de tudo quanto é lugar para discutir as idéias nós finalmente nos encontramos novamente há apenas 2 semanas atrás. Ele e seu time, gerente de palco Justin Mabardi e coreógrafo Ray Leaper, nos presentearam com “A Biblia” um livro de trabalho com 60 páginas no qual cada detalhe do show era meticulosamente planejado e documentado.
Now Il Divo wouldn’t be Il Divo if we would just say yes to everything and do what we’re being told. So we obviously had our own individual opinions and ideas and we were keen to make them be heard. We have however gotten quite good at dealing with different opinions over the past 8 years, so we managed to bring it all together in a constructive dialogue to finalise elements of the show.
Agora Il Divo não seria o Il Divo se nós apenas disséssemos sim para tudo e fizéssemos tudo que era dito. Então nós obviamente tínhamos nossas opiniões individuais e idéias e nós estávamos muito ‘a fim’ de sermos ouvidos. Entretanto, nós ficamos muito bons em negociar diferentes opiniões nestes últimos 8 anos, então nós fomos capazes de juntar tudo isso com diálogos construtivos para finalizar os elementos do show.
What followed was an intense period of rehearsing; we had to get the show from the paper ready to go on stage in just 7 days. However, Brian and his team, as well as our MD Andrew Small were so incredibly professional that now, that we’re about to go on, we feel very well rehearsed confident and secure with what we’re doing. And, of course, we are very excited to be back onstage and singing for our audience. We rehearsed with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra yesterday, and its so wonderful to have a big orchestra behind you, especially in hearing some of the new songs take shape in a live studio.
O que se seguiu foi um período intenso de ensaios; nós tínhamos que tirar o show do papel e deixá-lo pronto para ir para o palco em apenas 7 dias. Embora, Brian e seu time, assim como nosso diretor Andrew Small foram profissionais tão incríveis que agora, que nós estamos prestes a decolar, nós nos sentimos muito bem ensaiados, confiantes e seguros com o que nós estivemos fazendo. E, naturalmente, nós estamos muito entusiasmados em estar de volta aos palcos e cantar para nossa audiência. Nós ensaiamos com o Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra ontem, e é tão maravilhoso ter uma grande orquestra suportando você, especialmente em ouvir algumas das novas canções tomando forma num estúdio ao vivo.
It is going to be our first show in the UK for almost 20 months and we’re eager to make it worth the wait. Tonight and tomorrow it will be up you all to tell us again if we’ve kept our promise. We cant wait to see you all at “The London Coliseum”.
Será o primeiro show na Inglaterra em quase 20 meses e nós estamos ávidos de fazer com que valha a espera. Esta noite e amanhã será para vocês nos dizerem novamente se nós mantivemos nossa promessa. Nós mal podemos esperar para ver vocês todos no Coliseum de Londres.
